Global Engagement Award

The World Affairs Council of CT (CTWAC) awards a student or group of students with the Global Engagement Award at our annual Luminary Award Gala.

The Global Engagement Award reaffirms the CTWAC’s commitment to global education by recognizing extraordinary high school students who address global issues by taking their classroom knowledge into the world.

If you know a globally engaged student who is committed to global issues and international education, this is your opportunity to nominate them for recognition!

What made you want to get involved in global affairs?

After the first time [I hosted a Hunger Project], I realized that the world was so much bigger than myself and my small town community and I learned I was actually capable of helping in such large scale issues.

What did you learn from your experience with the Hunger Project?

I loved how people got excited about service and you could tell that everyone was having fun as they packaged food. There were no qualifications for who could volunteer. That gave me a different perspective in a lot of ways. I learned that everyone has the potential to make a difference and succeed, no matter their situation.
